Welcome to Scoil Mhuire

Fíorchaoin fáilte go Scoil Mhuire, Ceann Toirc, Contae Chorcaí.

We are a co-educational secondary school with a long and proud tradition of serving the educational needs of our community in the north Cork area. In Scoil Mhuire, we aim to provide for the holistic development of each and every student entrusted to our care and we strive to educate each young person to reach his/her potential and enable him/her to be the best s/he can be.

In December 2017 we in Scoil Mhuire welcomed a team of DES inspectors to the school to undertake a Whole School Evaluation – Management, Leadership and Learning (WSE – MLL). Over a number of weeks inspectors met with all stake holders and focused on four key areas of school life – the quality of leadership and management, the quality of teaching and learning, implementation of recommendations from previous evaluations and the school’s self-evaluation process and capacity for school improvement.

The findings of the inspectors were very positive and affirmed the very good work being undertaken in Scoil Mhuire consistently. Inspectors found that the quality of teaching, learning and assessment was very good with examples of excellent practice. The quality of leadership for learning was described by inspectors as very good and it was found that there is a very good senior management team supported by a dedicated and professional teaching team. Throughout the evaluation students displayed high levels of engagement and enjoyment in their lessons. It was found that very good care structures are in place in Scoil Mhuire.

It is most gratifying for all in the Scoil Mhuire community that the DES recognises the efforts made in Scoil Mhuire to assist all students reach their full potential, whatever that may be, in a safe and caring environment, whilst developing very positive student teacher relationships.

Throughout the years our students consistently exceed national standards. The vast majority of students progress to third level courses every year. Many of our students have been immensely successful in many fields of learning at home and abroad and have been awarded scholarships to various third level institutions.

Our highly motivated, talented, dedicated and committed staff, a mix of young and more experienced teachers, ensure that our students experience the highest standards of teaching and learning. All staff share the vision for the school as a centre of academic excellence within a truly Christian Community, where Christian values are transmitted.
