Wonderful Junior Certificate Results
Congratulations to our Junior Certificate Students who received their results on 14th September. The class of 2016 produced an outstanding set of results with double digit percentage of ‘A’ grades recorded at higher level. An analysis of results showed over 70% of papers were taken at higher level by students and the rate of A, B and C grades achieved exceeded the national figures throughout the curriculum, with many subject scoring 100% success. A total of 16 subjects were taken by students sitting the examination with higher level Grade ‘A’ recorded in each. A particular word of praise goes to Lisa Finn who scored an impressive 10 ‘A’ grades. Well done to Students, their Parents and Teachers on these fine achievements.
Sunday Times Rankings
The Sunday Time Schools Guide, published August 28th, once again saw Scoil Mhuire come out on top in Kanturk. The rankings, based on entry to university in Ireland 2013-2015, show Scoil Mhuire climb 12 places from last year. The ranking however underestimates the achievements of our students as it fails to take into consideration a considerable number of students who went on to study in the UK, Italy and Austria. Following on from the outstanding results in the Leaving Certificate this year, we look forward to a further rise in the rankings next year. Well done to all
Welcome new students and staff
Welcome to all students and staff starting in Scoil Mhuire this year. In particular welcome to our first year students who we will endeavour to help reach their full potential in their second level education with us. Welcome also to a number of new staff members involved in a range of subject areas. We hope that each will be happy and fulfilled in their new role.
Outstanding Leaving Certificate Results 2016
On August 17th students from the class of 2016 returned to Scoil Mhuire to receive their Leaving Certificate results. Students continued our proud tradition, producing outstanding results. These results ensure that students are now able to continue in further education with the majority of students securing their course of choice. Students this year received results in an impressive range of 25 subjects. All students taking higher level maths secured the bonus 25 points with a number of students also achieving grade A1. Impressive results were also recorded in a range of subjects including Technology with 14 A grades, Biology with 12 A grades and Home Economics where over 50% of the class scored an A grade, to name but a few. This year 25% of students secured in excess of 500 points and this compares with a national rate of around 9.9%. The percentage of students who gained more than 400 points stands at 53% while 65% achieved over 350 points. Congratulations and well done to students, parents and teachers on this remarkable achievement.
