Brilliant Junior Certificate Results

Congratulations to our Junior Certificate Students who received their results on Wednesday 13th September.

The class of 2017 produced an outstanding set of results with almost 20% of ‘A’ grades recorded at higher level.

2017 marked a new departure with students taking the new English course, with the majority scoring the top two grades of ‘Distinction and ‘High Merit’.

An analysis of results showed almost 75% of papers were taken at higher level by students and the rate of A, B and C grades achieved exceeded the national figures throughout the curriculum, with many subject scoring 100% success.

A total of 15 subjects were taken by students.

A particular word of praise goes to Darragh Healy-Fitzgerald who scored an impressive 9 ‘A’ grades.

Well done to students, their parents and teachers on these fine achievements.

Sunday Times Rankings

The Sunday Time Schools Guide, published August 27th, once again saw Scoil Mhuire as the higher placed school in Kanturk. The rankings, based on entry to university in Ireland 2014-2016, show Scoil Mhuire maintain a similar position to last year in the rankings.

The ranking however does not take into consideration a considerable number of students who went on to study in the UK and Europe, which would increase the number of students progressing directly into third level education.

Welcome new students and staff

Welcome to all students and staff starting in Scoil Mhuire this year. In particular welcome to our first year students who we will endeavour to help reach their full potential in their second level education with us.

Welcome also to a number of new staff members involved in a range of subject areas. We hope that each will be happy and fulfilled in their new role.

Excellent Leaving Certificate Results 2017

On August 16th students from the class of 2017 returned to Scoil Mhuire to receive their Leaving Certificate results. Students continued our proud tradition, producing outstanding results.

Students this year were graded under the new system, H1 – H8 at higher level and O1 – O8 at ordinary level.

These results ensure that students are now able to continue in further education with the majority of students securing their course of choice.

Students this year received results in an impressive range of 22 subjects. Almost 45% of students took the higher level maths examination with all securing the bonus 25 points.

Once again this year Scoil Mhuire students performed better than students nationally in securing in excess of 500 points.

The percentage of students who gained more than 400 points stands at almost 50% while in excess of 60% achieved over 350 points.

Congratulations and well done to students, parents and teachers on this remarkable achievement.
