Congratulations to the members of the Young Scientist team, Lisa Finn, Marie O' Neill & Orla Gillespie, who have been selected to present their project in the RDS in January. The title of their BTYS project is 'Síucra Tóg Go Bog É. 550 projects out of a total of 2091 projects were picked nationwide to go forward to the BTYS in the RDS in January.
The project is based on the negative effects of sugar on our health and how excessive sugar intake can lead to obesity, type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease. The purpose of the project is that "we believe that if Irish preteens and teenagers are more aware of the maximum amount of sugar they should be having daily for their height, gender and age that this would have a significant positive impact on their health'.
The girls are really looking forward to representing Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk in the BTYS in January.
